Neighborhood Leadership 2012 kicked off its year with an event on January 31st at the Roosevelt House. In attendance were Commissioner of the Department of Small Business Services and LNY 5 alumnus Rob Walsh, Deputy Commissioner and Fellows 2004 alumna Elizabeth De Leon, LNY 23 participant and SBS Director Andrea Buteau, as well as City Council Members Dromm and Ferreras. Flora Mendoza Fellows 2011 was featured in a promo on PBS about New York Community Stories. You can see the video here.
Chris Tepper LNY 21, founder of the AIDS Memorial Park Coalition, recently completed a worldwide design competition for the design of the AIDS memorial park. You can read about it here in the New York Times and here in New York Magazine.
Helen Rosenthal LNY 12 is running for New York City Council for the open seat in District 6, which covers the Upper West Side.
Ari Wallach Fellows 2003, founder of the consulting firm Synthesis Corp., recently completed a global innovation strategy engagement with the United Nations High Committee for Refugees culminating in the soon-to-be launched UNHCR Labs. Synthesis Corp. also recently completed projects for the Ford Foundation, US State Department and Tides. You can read more about Synthesis Corp. here.
Serge St. Leger Jr. LNY 16 was promoted to Senior Director of Youth Development Partnerships at the NYCDOE's Office of School & Youth Development.
Nitzan Pelman LNY 17 is the founding executive director of Citizen Schools New York, part of a national education reform organization that is headquarted in Boston. The NY division is quickly becoming the flagship region of the organization and has gotten a lot of traction in the city with Google serving as their largest partner.
Matthew G. Monahan LNY 11 has been named Senior Vice President for Public Information of the State's Battery Park City Authority.
Diana Delgado ICLP 2011 recently received a scholarship to participate in the "Poets and Scholars" Symposium sponsored by the Texas Institute of Literary and Textual Studies (TILTS) occurring February 21-26.
Ron Rapatalo LNY 20 is currently consulting with Newark Public Schools on principal redesign.
Jay Desai Fellows 2009 recently began a new position with the Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation in Washington, DC.
Patrick Mispagel Fellows 1996 has begun a new role with Moody's Investors Service in Hong Kong as Associate Managing Director. The Moody's Foundation is a sponsor of the Coro Fellows program.
Itai Dinour LNY 16 has taken on a new role at City Year as Chief Organizational Advancement and Alumni Officer.
The 2012 Fellows visit to Roosevelt Island was recently highlighted by Roosevelt Island Operating Corp. President Leslie Torres. You can read about it here.
