Corolation

November Corolation

After the Storm

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, at this time of great crisis, one of the most valuable resources we can rely on is the leadership of our city.  We take great pride that so many Coro alumni are helping this city recover in so many important ways:  Coro alumni are leading organizations working in the most devastated neighborhoods like the New York Red Cross, the Red Hook Initiative, and the BIDs in Chinatown and the Rockaways.  Coro alumni are working tirelessly to bring our schools back on line; setting up emergency loan programs for small businesses; and coordinating volunteer cleanups in parks.

The Coro community has also come together to support one another.  High schools students in the Mayor's Youth Leadership Council volunteered with a Coro alum on Staten Island to deliver food to displaced homeowners and this week the Leadership New York Issue Day became a day of service when 60 participants joined Coro alumni working on the front lines of the disaster to volunteer.  You can see more stories of the Coro community coming together on our Facebook page.

The impact of Hurricane Sandy will be with us for months and years but one of the things that gives me hope is that so many Coro alumni are helping our city and its residents recover and rebuild.
